In 2017 designer and technologist Rune Kippervik realized that we consume a staggering 160.000 plastic bags every second, most of which end up in landfills or our oceans. Reusable bags are great for the environment, but most are too bulky or impractical to remember to bring with you everywhere you go. Bags are not of much use if they’re left behind at home when you really need them.

For this reason, he partnered up with Ursus Negenborn to create the ultimate everyday carry bag, an ultra-lightweight shopping bag that folds on itself so easily that no folding is necessary. The goal was to make a bag that practically disappears in one's pocket, is comfortable to use and can stand the test of time.

As a result, the Nanobag was born, a premium shopping bag so compact that you won’t even know you’re carrying it yet strong enough to carry 30kg. Until now they’ve run many successful campaigns and raised more than $1.7 million on Kickstarter and Indiegogo.

In order to make sure that the Nanobag truly is a product that contributes to helping the planet, they are committed to plant one tree for every bag that’s sold. This does not only make the Nanobag carbon neutral, but many times over carbon positive. This means that each bag effectively reduces CO2 and helps our planet heal in addition to solving overconsumption of single use plastics.
